Jim and Maria Moreland started a new church in Guarai about 8 years ago. "Presently the church there is not in very good condition," wrote forwarding agent Mark Engler in July. "Structurally it needs a lot of work and is too small to accommodate their needs. So they plan to raise the roof in the worship area and to expand the area to the back. They will raise the roof about 5 1/2 feet and build to the back about 23 feet."

"The raising-the-roof building project is progressing very slowing," Mark wrote in Nov. "They have been able to do some work on the Sunday school classrooms to make them bigger, but not much has taken place as far as raising the roof and expanding the worship area of the church. Things sometimes work very slowly in Brazil. Pray that this project will be able to progress."

"We had a great time at the 7th. of Sept. holiday this year," Jim wrote. "This is Brazil's Independence Day; like 4th of July in the U.S. The swimming, Bible study, singing and fellowship was very edifying to all who attended. We had the Lord's Supper in the evening and shortly after dark started on our way home." One non-Christian man plans to buy a tent and bedding and asked "us to invite him the next time we go."

This year Brazil Evangelism had a booth at the National Missionary Convention in Tulsa, OK, Nov. 20-23, to promote the ministry and recruit more missionaries.
