"While
Vince was in the U.S. under-going medical tests, Gilbert resigned and
took more than half of the congregation with him to start a new
church located within walking distance from Meadowbrook. The
Hillside Christian Church, Amarillo, Texas is sponsoring that
program, so the new church is called Hillside Christian Church."
"The
elders at Meadowbrook are doing a good job carrying on the church and
school programs. Different ministers from the brotherhood are
preaching for them on Sundays on a rotation basis. On Sun. Oct. 12,
Vince preached there and a 34-year-old man gave his life to the Lord.
We counseled with him and went back there on Oct. 31 to have him
baptized. We praise the Lord,
as we need more men in the church."
"Crime
and violence have always been a problem in Jamaica, however, in
recent times the trend is to kidnap women and children, rape and kill
them. This has driven great fear in the school communities and the
authorities do not seem to have any answer to this latest upsurge in
crime."
"The
last few hurricanes that passed near our island have devastated our
agriculture, roads and housing. Banana, one of our main exports,
has been wiped out."
In
June the doctor inserted a stent in Vincent's right kidney. In
mid-Dec. he had heart failure that resulted from fluid in his
lungs, and a kidney infection by the stent. Doctors stabilized his
heart, reduced most fluid in the lungs, and replaced the stent. "We have to be very thankful to God that Alice's health is
holding up as well as it is. She has a lot of responsibilities,
especially as we no longer have a full-time secretary."
Praise God for:
* medical care for Vincent.
* work teams who helped in the clinic.
Please pray for:
* healing between Meadowbrook & Hillside
Christian Churches, & growth for both.
* Jamaica to rebuild its agriculture, roads and
housing, and control violence & crime.
*Vincent's & Alice's health to improve.
